- Accessing any illegal contact or material which can bring the company into disrepute (e.g. pornography)
- Up loading, downloading or distribution of any copyright information or software available to the user.
- Posting confidential information about other employees, the company, its customers or suppliers.
Users must be aware that offers or contracts transmitted electronically are as legally binding as the company as those sent on paper.
Non-solicited e-mail of any type should be discarded, any offensive material received should be referred to both head of department, an IS staff for action. “Chain letters” should be re-circulated and any “virus warnings” received from third parties should be referred to the local IS staff and not Panic – broadcast.
Authorized Personal Use
As a concession (which the employer reserves the right to withdraw at any time and without notice) employees will be allowed access for personal purposes with the following additional constraints:
- That the use does not adversely affect the employee’s performance of duties
- The use is of reasonable duration and frequency, and is made during the user’s personal time.
- The use must not place any strain on the communication system and does not create significant additional cost to the company.
- No files are downloaded from, or uploaded to the internet.
- The user is not authorized to send or receive a file attachments with personal e-mail messages – any such messages and (or attachments will be deleted if detected).
Mail
Employees should where possible, avoid private mail being sent care of the company. All mail received may be opened including that addressed to employees, unless marked “addressee only:. Employees must not send private mail at the company’s expense.
