GENERAL CODE OF CONDUCT
Drug and Alcohol Abuse
Clubwww1 recognizes drug and alcohol abuse as treatable health problems. Employees suffering from these illnesses are therefore encouraged to seek help either through the company or their own doctor. Any requests, advice or treatment will remain confidential.
Drugs
Controlled drugs (illegal drugs) are defined by the appropriate regulations. In general, it is a criminal offense for a person to produce supply, offer to supply or be in possession of illegal drugs, other than in accordance with the direction of a practitioner (a registered doctor or a dentist). All staff members are forbidden to do any of the above. If anyone contradicts these rules the company reserves the right to take whatever action it considers appropriate. This action may include, but be not limited to contacting the police and/or suspending the individual. Staff members will be subject to disciplinary and administrative action up to and including summary dismissal.
Many prescribed medicines contain drugs that can impair judgment or an employee’s ability to work in a normal manner. If a staff member is under such medication, he/she must inform his/her immediate supervisor to avoid any possible embarrassment or problems at a later date.
Alcohol
Clubwww1’s business as an internet provider depends on being able to deliver a 24-hour professional service to its customers. The company operates this service within an industry governed by international rules and regulations, many based on straight policies with regard to alcohol consumption.
The company’s office policy takes account of these operating conditions and therefore alcoholic beverages may not be brought onto the company’s premises, unless specifically authorized by management.
The company relies on all staff to act in a professional and responsible way.
Accordingly, a staff member found at work under the influence of alcohol will be immediately suspended, pending an investigation of the circumstances. If after subsequent enquiry, there is no satisfactory explanation, disciplinary and/or administrative actions may be taken, which dependent on the circumstances, may result in dismissal
For the benefit of all parties, employees have a responsibility to identify and bring to the attention of the appropriate immediate supervisor where a colleague’s work is being affected by alcohol in order that the company can assist in whatever way it can.
Gifts and Gratuities
As a general policy, the company does not consider that receiving gifts is appropriate to the efficient conduct of its business. There are, however, limited exceptions to this policy.
Receipt of Gifts
Any member of staff who is given a gift by a business contact (e.g. customer, supplier etc., actual or potential) must disclose the fact of the gift and its nature to his/her head of department. If the company decides that the gift constitutes of bribe or other inducement, the employee will be required to give the gift to the Managing Director who will return it to the donor with a suitable covering letter.
If the company decides the gift was made as a token of the donor’s gratitude for a service carried out at a very high standard, the recipient will be allowed to keep the gift.
