Conditions of Employment
Employees and staff members are required:
- To comply with all company policies and rules as applicable.
- To give their attention and use their abilities for the benefit of the business of the company and of any organization to which the company seconds them.
- Not to compete with the company or engage or get involved in the affairs of a competitor.
- Not to enter into any contracts for sale or purchase of any goods or incur any expenditures on behalf of the company or its associated group companies without proper authorization.
- To observe strict secrecy about the affairs of the company and its associated companies. Except as required by their duties, not to divulge to a third party during their employment or later, any information about such affairs.
Changes in Personal Circumstances
Staff must notify the company of any change of name, address, telephone number, next of kin etc. in order that accurate personal records can be maintained for correspondence and also for emergency contact.
Probationary Period
All appointments, including promotions are subject to a specific probationary period as laid out in the letter of appointment. During this time, the appointment may be terminated by either side, giving to the other appropriate notice, specified in the individual offer letter. Appointments will be conformed after the successful completion of the probationary period.
Unavoidable Absences
Staff members are asked to take whatever steps that are necessary to ensure the unavoidable absences from work to an absolute minimum and is properly notified to enable the company to make appropriate arrangement. This requires a telephone call or a message delivered by the employee, or a third party to the immediate supervisor or head of department on the first day of absence at the earliest convenience.
Unauthorized absence, without notifying the company may result in the staff member being subject to the company’s disciplinary and or administrative procedures.
Other Absence
Absence for reasons other than illness, injury or approved holidays will be permitted only in special circumstances with the approval of the head of the department. Unauthorized absence will be treated as a breach of discipline unless an acceptable explanation is given.
Medical Examination
The company reserves the right to ask for a medical report or other form of medical screening on any applicant prior to engagement. Appointment is subject to a satisfactory report.
The company may wish an existing staff member to undergo a medical exam at any time conducted by a company nominated medical advisor, as mutually agreed, alternative medical advisor.
In circumstances where the company is concerned about a staff member or an employee’s attendance record or inability to perform satisfactorily the requirements of his/her job, the company may wish to refer the individual for medical examination. In the event the staff member declines the company’s request, the company will base its decision on the appropriate course of action by reference to the information available at that time.
